Chinese Herbs for Indigestion – Traditional Chinese Medicine Bao He Pian

Indigestion: pain or discomfort in the stomach or intestines,

associated with difficulty digesting foods and short/long term

weakness in the body’s digestive capacity.

Treatments: Nutrition Counseling, a Proper Balanced Diet,

and Chinese Herbs for indigestion.

The amazing process of Digestion in Traditional Chinese Medicine is sometimes referred to as “a pot of soup cooking over a fire”.

Proper digestion best happens when your “pot of soup” (or digestive center) is warmed up to a certain temperature and ‘cooked’ for a proper amount of time, based on the food you eat.

Here’s how it works, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM),

the digestive process is primarily supported by the

Spleen (YIN/FEMALE/PASSIVE/MOON) and

the Stomach (YANG/MALE/ACTIVE/SUN), both “Earth Elements”.

The stomach, aka the “Sea of Food and Drink” RECEIVES food & drink and, if healthy, “holds them DOWN” (as opposed to nausea and vomiting) … and it controls the “Rotting and Ripening” of food (as in, it macerates food in order to prepare it for the next stage of digestion).

The spleen is responsible for “Transformation and Transportation” whereby it sends purest parts of macerated food & drink, UP from the stomach, to the heart and lungs, to create “Qi” or VITAL Energy. This Primordial-QI is then transformed into blood.

As you add foods into your “Pot of Soup”, it is important to know that

Foods can be broken down into two categories:

Cool or Cold (iced drinks, apples, eggs, ice cream, etc.)

Warm or Hot (warm broth, pepper, mustard, lamb)

If we continue the “pot of soup” analogy then we understand that adding COLD foods to a brewing pot will Cool the Fire and require a longer “cooking time” – aka, take more time and energy to digest. Whereas adding HOT/WARM foods (in proper moderation) implies that digestion should be easier and quicker.

When choosing foods to help soothe indigestion, it’s important to consider your personal body constitution, the preparation of the food,

and even the seasonal weather!

Nutrition Counseling and following a balanced diet are key to maintaining healthy digestion, and, for extra preventative measures or

ON-THE-SPOT natural indigestion treatment,

we recommend Chinese Herbs such as BAO HE PIAN.

Bao He Pian, a Chinese Herbal Supplement consisting of 3 sets of

Chinese herbs, is a well-known and effective natural treatment for indigestion according to Chinese Traditional Medicine.
